Welcome to “Mormons Serving Around the World,” an unofficial website capturing stories and snapshots of faithful Mormons voluntarily contributing to their neighborhoods, communities, and the world. Mormons believe in walking the talk, “doing good” as the Savior exemplified, and being “engaged in a good cause.”
You may have seen Mormon Helping Hands, volunteers wearing yellow shirts, involved in community projects, cleanups, world humanitarian service. You may have seen Mormon missionaries, dressed in suits, traveling the streets of the world from Bolivia to Boise, teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are these and many other everyday, faithful Mormons who are engaged in extraordinary acts of kindness, outreach, and service, to the poor and the needy, the unfulfilled, the widow, the victims of natural disasters, in untold ways. We hope to bring some of these stories closer to you.
Our hope is hold up the Savior as the light through these works, and not to commend ourselves. It is to show those who ask us so often, “What do Mormons do to help around the world?,” or “Do you only spend money on defending marriage? Why don’t you help the poor?” To illustrate the fruits of our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to Him and to all of His children, we have created this site. We hope it will build bridges of faith and hope, and unify us in our common Christian desires to serve God and those around us.
We appreciate your visit and welcome your suggestions. Some of the materials here will be those from the LDSNewsroom. Other stories will be those we have gathered from the four corners.
